The application could be various from small decorative items to structural pavilion. We want to collaborate with local industry to create a mushroom pavilion which has a local context, grown locally with the local community, and using their local agricultural waste. We are interested in working with Hida Kuma, which has an expertise in forestry industry and wood carpentry and design. We would love to integrate our material by using their forestry waste and create a pavilion which its design adapted to local context.
Hidakuma CEO
The sight of mushrooms growing on fallen trees reminds me that the death of one living thing becomes the foundation for another life to emerge. So it’s exciting to imagine how trees and mushrooms, which exist side by side in the natural cycle of life, might support each other simultaneously to form architectural structures. Instead of being in a fixed state, this architecture exists somewhere between growth and decomposition.
