Bio Circular Economic Material Prize
I am extremely inspired by how Sargablock solves multiple problems all at once: waste, pollution, poverty and housing. Most importantly, I believe it is possible to scale this amazing idea throughout the world.
Upcycle Sound Prize
I had the biggest smile when I heard the music that came out of Marai instruments. The sounds were not what I expected as each instrument can create multiple pitches with beautiful tones. To me, these instruments are truly original and the amount of thinking, effort, and time put into creating them is truly admirable.
I believe that music is an extremely powerful force and the performance of Marai instruments is one of the best ways to introduce children to waste upcycling and circular economy concepts.
Menstruation Sustainability Prize
Organic Reusable Cloth Pads for Circular Economy and Access to Sustainable Menstruation for All
Eco Femme
Although I have seen similar ideas in other countries, I think that Eco Femme has created the largest impact I have witnessed so far, with over 1 million cloth pads distributed. Bravo!
They have also generated multiple social contributions through their work, such as improving labor and education. I believe this idea is very difficult to execute well, so I profoundly admire Kathy Walkling and Jessamijn Miedema, who have been working on this business for the past 12 years. Congratulations, you guys are amazing.
Utilized The Underutilized Prize
I love how NUNOUS uses “underutilized textile materials” and upcycles them further using proprietary technology and biopolymer to produce new and truly original materials that can be made into products in the fashion, construction or even the stationery industries. Given its functions and upcycle elements, I believe that the demand for this product will grow astoundingly fast in the coming years.
Lifelong Product Prize
I want one!!! This was my first reaction when I learned about PACKBAGS. The products and the branding look amazing, and their application of multiple circular economy strategies are truly impressive. I can feel that their customers will be very proud to own one of their bags, and will help the brand to scale through word of mouth.
